Amy Penner, ACSW - Therapist/Case Manager
Amy Penner is an Associate Clinical Social Worker who brings a decade of experience in mental health, counseling, social services, non-profit, and community-based settings. At Avalon, she facilitates groups and supports the clinical team throughout clients’ treatment processes, and she especially enjoys DBT, CBT, ACT and assisting clients in gaining coping skills to help them overcome challenges and meet their goals. Amy completed her Bachelor’s degree at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon with a double major in Psychology and Spanish language. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Southern California. Prior to Avalon, she worked in residential adolescent treatment for co-occurring disorders and at an Intensive Outpatient treatment program providing group therapy and assessments to adults struggling with substance use disorders and mental health diagnoses working on their sobriety and recovery. Amy has volunteered, worked, and interned with vulnerable individuals and diverse populations in Chile, Israel, New York City, Portland, Los Angeles, and Orange County. She grew up in Southern California and is a native to the area. Amy is passionate about empowering individuals to become the best versions of themselves.
