Suffering from a mental health disorder may leave you feeling as though you are the only one experiencing certain symptoms, and you may be unaware of the resources available that can help. Mental health disorders effect men, women, and children, and their onset can significantly alter mood, relationships, and proper ways of thinking.
When you join us at Avalon Malibu, one of the first steps we take is to evaluate your mental health, as we believe that it can hold some responsibility for the addiction or co-occurring disorder you are treating in recovery. Not only do you receive a diagnosis, but also you will gain the resources and support you need to find wholeness within you and in life.
Avalon Malibu is one of the only residential treatment centers in California that views mental health disorders as a primary diagnosis for addiction. While many other treatment centers will attempt to treat addiction on a surface level, our therapists assess the underlying mental health issues that might be contributing to your current condition. We treat several disorders and addictions as well as co-occurring disorders with a dual diagnosis. They include:
If you don’t receive professional treatment, you may resort to self-medication, which can take the form of drugs or alcohol. You may also obtain a prescription to help with your illness that you begin to abuse. Although substances may suppress what you are feeling, they will not treat the underlying condition you are facing and will instead build a tolerance that eventually leads to dependence.
Having a sense of balance and feeling fulfilled involves treating the underlying problems that are affecting your well being. Addressing individual issues will eventually lead to the necessary correction of larger health concerns.
At Avalon Malibu, we give you the resources you need to find sobriety for life and remain motivated to improve your self-confidence. Our team of specialists are here to get to know you and understand your unique needs, which will allow them to design a treatment plan addressing your mental health issues in a way that you can appreciate and value.
