We believe that the issues we face do not define who or what we are. They are an invitation to look again at the choices that we make and the reality that we have created. The goal of the ‘Avalon Model’ is to assist the client in gaining greater in sight into the meaning of their life where the pain of the past becomes a stepping-stone to a future built on choice rather than compulsion.
Joan Borysenko, Ph.D. is a consultant in program development providing scientific, psychological, and spiritual direction to Avalon by the Sea.
A renowned pioneer in the field of Integrative Medicine, Dr. Borysenko earned her doctorate in cellular biology from the Harvard Medical School, where she also completed three postdoctoral fellowships in cancer research, behavioral medicine, and psychoneuroimmunology. She is a licensed clinical psychologist, spiritual mentor, trainer of spiritual mentors, and the New York Times bestselling author of Minding the Body, Mending the Mind, based on her groundbreaking work as co-founder of one of the first hospital-based mind-body programs in the United States.
We have created a Treatment Planner tool which is designed to fit the client into a customizable program. Instead of randomly placing a client into a program, which may inhibit them from excelling, we have matched your needs to a desired program.
