Matthew Porter, LMFT - Group Facilitator
Matthew Porter is an experienced California LMFT (25 years) providing compassionate psychotherapy for trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, addiction and relationships, utilizing EMDR, DBT, and Mindfulness approaches. He is an ICF-Certified ACC Coach and Certified Coach of Neuro-Shine Technology™ and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, guiding clients toward empowered futures. He also trains mental health and other professionals in coaching methodologies in ICF-Accredited Coach Training through the Academy of Neuro-Shine Technology™, which offers a dynamic coaching approach combining Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Heart Science, Positive Psychology, Neuroscience, Quantum Physics and Cosmology. Porter specializes in treating trauma/PTSD through EMDR reprocessing work, as well as Mindfulness and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills for emotional regulation. In order to ground one's experience and emotions in the moment, CBT and DBT skills can assist with distress tolerance and emotional regulation, while also working with triggers and vulnerabilities to stress. EMDR provides Resourcing skills for managing trauma memories, and in therapy, can assist with resolving past trauma and finding inner acceptance, peace and resilience. Porter is a strong proponent of healthy living, self-care, and honoring one's individuality and social needs. He is a member of the LGBTQ community, and served as Co-President of Gaylesta, the Northern California LGBTQ Therapists' Organization. In his free time, he enjoys reading, socializing, music, dancing, hiking, meditation, traveling, and spending time with his partner Gus and their cocker spaniel, Darla.
