Benjamin Shapiro, M.D. - Contracted Psychiatrist

Dr. Benjamin Shapiro completed medical school, residency, and fellowship at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine where he is currently a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor. He has trained nurse practitioners; medical students; internal medicine, psychiatry, and neurology residents; and geriatric psychiatry and geriatric medicine fellows in medical ethics and legal issues, dementia, complex drug interactions, and toxidromes, PTSD, emergency psychiatry, addiction, and various aspects of psychotherapy and lectures yearly for the UCLA Division of Geriatric Medicine Review Course. He has board certifications in Adult Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Adolescent Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine. He has more than a decade of experience working with underserved and unnaturalized communities with HIV, Veterans with PTSD and addiction, severe refractory schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and severe personality disorders. He does focus work on adolescent and adult eating disorders and maintains interests in non-traditional treatment modalities in psychiatry and aspects of orthomolecular psychiatry and nutrition.
